Start, finish: Lyon - Chalon-sur-Saône - Lyon
Distance: 272 km
Date: 25 October 1874
Remarks
There were four inscriptions for this race, but as a result of the thick fog, only two riders take the start at midnight: Victor JOGUET and Joseph BORNAREL. Halfway, at 9:30 at the turning point at Chalon-sur-Saône, the two of them are still together. However, shortly after they embark on their way back to Lyon, JOGUET breaks one of his pedals and has to return to Chalon to fix it. He manages to do so after which he resumes the race, trying to get back with BORNAREL (Courrier de Saône-et-Loire, 26 Octobre 1874)
The result was to be published in the next day's issue, but that one is not available. JOGUET, according to other sources, apparently won the race, no news about BORNAREL. To be continued...
