in 1970 the Tour de l'Avenir is cancelled because of economic reasons. L'Equipe and Parisien-Liberé, in collaboration with the organizers of Paris - Vierzon, eventually manage to organize an alternative by adding two stages to the planned edition of Paris - Vierzon.
